my gregtech diary

August 4 2025

Spent half my time playing and the other half either texting my friends or mindlessly scrolling on facebook marketplace. The first dolly's were made, which made moving my chests so much easier. I took a break from the phone to watch the introduction and instruction on how to procure oil. My friend told me if I made a rubber ball in Gregtech that it would bounce on the ground when I tossed it, which, in fact, was a lie. One of the worst pranks I have ever fallen victim to. I think this was the evening that I was tasked with making 64 wrapped tin wires as well.

Working on the water tanker on the roof so that our steam machines no longer give us error messages when more than 3 are running at the same time. Its all blank in my mind as to what else I did to assist the world, but I feel like I laughed pretty hard.

Went over to my friends house after an impromptu shift at work and moving day. The photo suggests that I attended to the rubber sheet production. I was looking back at quests of old tiers and see if I could do anything besides plowing ahead in LV because I felt underexperienced. I looked like a total idiot trying to put only one rubber ingot with the mold in the alloy smelter. What can you do, I guess.

Sorry for the late update, I only do it when im at work. I believe my main function was to work on the molds, as is told by the blank casts you can see in my inventory. Probably also making another coke oven. I only played for like a half hour because I wanted to get a toadscruel and I wanted to watch new The Summer I Turned Pretty Episodes.

Huge day in gregtech today. My main contribution was the creation of the molds, which involved oreberry picking and such, but we made it to LV tier! the first circuts and circuit boards were made. I was getting very sleepy and I was not really contributing because it is truly a one person job, but I sat on to make conversation and provide moral support. I am really lost, I got lava and rubber has been produced through one of our hopper systems but I dont really understand why what is happening is happening, and I am lost looking into recipies for what I need. Everyone is catching on faster than I am. I felt this way when we first entered into the steam tier, and I feel like I have a solid enough understanding of that at least. Excited to tie up some steam loose ends before making my way to the new tier.

After vaugley trying to understand NEI in order to progress to rubber creation (I still have only been in the nether once) I made this strange water device and worked on some molds to further our quest progress. In the last 24 hours they went about creating our first automation machines, taking the upstairs furnaces and macerators and creating a hopper and chest system to input ores. Was getting really sleepy so I sat and watched my friend create this device that turns 121 logs into charcoal.

So much gregtech today, ending an almost two week drought due to more wonderful pokemon go events. I was scheduled for a 3-11 shift both friday and saturday due to some understaffing. Once 8:30pm hit I was done with rides and dinner and I had time to lock in. Everyone else had made considerable progress without me, we had a whole second floor setup with bronze pipes and a macerating and compressing system. Really it was just about making sure there was enough steel in the furnaces. I did some minimal side quests and chest management.

Well... thats not like me. I did not take a screenshot for this date. Heres an iphone image cropped for your benefit. My dear friend and former roomate moved out of our house and now hes living at home, and the basement has become his haunt. Its nice and cozy, despite the unneccecary hardwood flooring. I set up on a little table next to his computer and we grinded out more gypsum / calcite mining. Still working to reach steel.

Pokemon Go, guys. That's why gregtech has been lacking for me. This july has been jam packed with events, many yielding 4x catch xp, which has led to me to focus my attention there. Anyways, Today I biked over to my friend's house in order to play, and I drank some sublime Orange Crush's and worked on some miscellanious stuff. Mostly, I was trying to mine to get gypsum and calcite neccecary for bringing forth the steel furnaces, the next major step in the game. I forget most of the specifics but I remember I had a really good time.

I haven't played in a couple of weeks, mostly as a result of other things catching my attention. My roomate took the wifi, and I was determined to hop on Greg, so i biked to the library. Killed two birds with one stone by also returning 20 items that were overdue. Today was our first forray into steam technology, and my dear friend walked me through the creation. We moved one water tanker onto the roof and connected it with bronze pipes, wrenched it to the first device, and then a large pipe so that we could make some red alloy. I made my first piston, and I made a wire cutter for the first time. The last week of play (in late June) I was retracing my steps and trying to master tier zero, making all of the bound and tanned leather items that I could conceieve of. We are entering the new area for sure this time.

My given task was dealing with the water tanker, a device that allows for water collection because, of course, you cannot collect water from an infinite resource. I built two, because I felt like it would be more useful than creating just one. I talked on the telephone while I went back and forth getting sap from rubber trees and adding the few materials I forgot about into the crafting table with a memory. Besides that, I made some better storage for the chickens. Nothing special, and it burned some time, but it was the little things to make the world more livable.

Today was all about the smelter, the final true invention before making our way over to steam. I had spent the last few days clearing up old questlines, working on making bound leather and various small crafts relating to our agricultural setup. Building it was not a huge pain because my friend got all of the materials beforehand. The way it works was pretty complicated in the beginning, and I had to look up a number of things to make the invention somewhat useful, but then I created my first seared stone with it. My other friend is on a journey across the map to get lava, so he can make iron tools and casting requirments, but frankly I am lost on where to go from there.

Of course, my gregtech journey started long (1 week) before this blog will be accounting for anything, but this day was the day I decided to create a diary for my spoils. Mostly, I found it to be so menial, pointless, and hilarious that I forgot what even started it. What happened was an endercreeper made his way into my base, leading to an explosion of our glorious coke oven, the spoils of our early game, allowing us to convert wood into coal at no extra cost. I spent the following hour collecting birch wood to fix our base as well as getting clay and the other neccecary materials to repair the coke oven. Thirty minutes in, it felt like I was making real progress, until I remembered that this all started because of an overall avoidable accident I made inside of the house. My friend (the inital man who convinced us to begin playing) scolded me for two hours about my error. All is love though. I fixed it up real nice and then went to bed.
